Here’s a date for your diary – Challock Chilli Fest 2016 is taking place at Victoriana Nursery Gardens in Kent on 1st and 2nd October.
This year there will be 163 different varieties of chillies and peppers to taste – complimented by many stalls selling sauces, chutneys, and jams – as well as foods to eat on the day from Chilli Candyfloss to Chilli Coffee. There will also be a range of arts and craft stalls, all of whom will have at least one Chilli themed item! It’s the perfect event chilli fanatics.
Chilli Fest is free to enter, although donations will be collected for The Mission For Seafarers charity from anyone wishing to taste the Chillies. Expert growers (and eaters!) will be on hand to offer advice and information about all the varieties grown, and they can lead you through a tasting experience.
Varieties will include Basket Of Fire, Bhut Jolokia, Black Scorpion Tongue and the Carolina Reaper! But if you’re less of a chilli head then there are also some cool chillies, including Cayenne Sweet, and sweet peppers: Alma Paprika, Marconi Red, Marconi Purple, Mini Bell Red, Mini Bell Yellow, NuMex Garnet, Padron, Rainbow Blend. Although those Padron peppers can be a bit tricksy!
All 163 varieties of Chilli will be available to purchase for the ultimate Pick Your Own! For more information and a full list of the Chilli Varieties, visit the Challock Chilli Fest website.
