Growing Plant

Hello, my name is Emma.

I sowed a few seeds, and they grew into a garden.

From a few pots on the patio, to raised beds filled with unusual edible plants, a 15ft diameter geodesic dome greenhouse, a mini orchard and a chicken run. It was the ‘alternative kitchen garden’, in which I grew edible and useful plants in an environmentally-friendly way.

I discovered a passion for plants, and planting, and found that I’m happiest when I’m getting my hands dirty. For more than 10 years, my garden was my playground, my laboratory and my sanctuary. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was my muse.

And then I lost it.

I took some time out, to rebuild a life. I now have a Masters degree in ethnobotany (the study of how people use plants), a new love and a new house. We’re working on a new garden, and this time we’re starting with a plan. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be bountiful, it’s going to be enticing.

And this time, it’s going to be beautiful.
